High potential and gifted education

"Gifted students are those whose potential is distinctly above average in one or more of the following domains of human ability: intellectual, creative, social and physical.

Talented students are those whose skills are distinctly above average in one or more areas of human performance."

Gagné, Differentiated Model of Giftedness and Talent, 2003

Domains of potential

The domains of potential describe the four broad categories of natural abilities found in Françoys Gagné's adapted model of Differentiated Model of Giftedness and Talent DMGT 2.0 (2009). These definitions apply to all students, including high potential and gifted students. The domains of potential may not be mutually exclusive and are highly influenced by one another.

The diagram below illustrates what we offer to support students in the four domains of potential at Manly Village.

In addition, the Learning Enrichment and Support Team works closely with stage and grade supervisors to suopport classroom teachers in providing meaningful extension work for high performing students. Manly students are engaged in personal interest projects that aim to develop their knowledge, understanding and abilities in a particular area of interest.
