Transport and getting to and from school
Many Manly Village students walk to school each day. Others ride a bike, scooter or skateboard.
Primary aged students are safest when they are supervised by an adult when riding. Children under 16 are permitted to ride on the footpath in New South Wales, unless there are signs prohibiting cycling.
Bikes, scooters and skateboards can be stored in a locked area at school, however the school takes no responsibility for stolen equipment.
Some students choose to catch public transport to school. Please be aware that there are no specific 'school special' bus routes for Manly Village students. Students take regular buses, which stop outside the school.
In the afternoon, students may catch a bus home from the Victoria Parade exit. A teacher ensures all students get on the correct bus. The 136 bus goes to Chatswood via Queenscliff, Freshwater, Dee Why, Beacon Hill and Frenchs Forest . The 142 bus travels to Allambie via Fairlight and Manly Vale. The 143 bus goes to Chatswood via Fairlight, Balgowlah and St Leonards.
A school pick up zone for parents opting to pick their child up in a vehicle operates in the afternoon outside the Victoria Parade gate. Parents should wait in the line, collect their child and quickly move away to avoid dangerous situations for our students.
Getting to school safely
Student safety is our priority. We encourage the whole community to be safe travellers on their way to and from school
As a parent or carer, you are responsible for how your child gets to and from school. Where possible, we encourage walking.
Plan ahead by discussing the following with your children:
- safe travel routes
- how to share the road safely
- alternative arrangements for when unexpected things happen.
