Sporting pathways
Manly Village has a strong sporting tradition that encourages students to pursue excellence. The school offers a variety of opportunities, including competitions, specialised coaching, carnivals, teams, extracurricular programs and leadership roles. These experiences help students build skills, confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship while supporting them to achieve their sporting potential on and off the field.
Classroom Sports Lessons
All classroom teachers deliver weekly sporting lessons, focusing on skill development and gameplay. Sport for younger students primarily takes place on the school grounds, while students in Years 3–6 participate in lessons both at school and regularly at Manly Oval. During the summer months, students in Years 3–6 can choose from a wide range of sports, including sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, beach volleyball, tennis, martial arts, Zumba and yoga.
Extension Sports Opportunities
Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics
Students with a talent or passion for sport are supported through structured sporting pathways from as early as Year 3. In swimming, cross country and athletics, students are given opportunities to develop their skills and compete at progressively higher levels. Students can participate in school carnivals before progressing through zone and regional competitions, with those who qualify continuing to state-level events. Athletics provides opportunities across a range of track and field events, while cross country supports students with a strength in long-distance running. These pathways encourage students to challenge themselves, build confidence and pursue sporting excellence.
Interschool Sports - Soccer, Rugby League, Netball
During the cooler months, students have the opportunity to represent Manly Village in school sporting teams, competing against other schools in soccer, rugby league and netball. These teams provide students with the opportunity to develop their skills, build teamwork and confidence and challenge themselves in a competitive environment, while supporting students with a passion and talent for these sports to excel.
