Creative and Performing Arts Pathways
Manly Village is a school that knows the importance of the creative arts in developing the whole child. Our school offers a broad range of enriching learning opportunities that allow students to excel in all areas of the creative and performing arts.
Classroom Creative Arts Lessons
Creative Arts is an important part of learning at Manly Village, with weekly classroom lessons providing students with opportunities to explore and develop their creativity. Teachers deliver engaging lessons across music, visual arts, dance and drama, allowing students to express themselves, build confidence and develop skills in collaboration, communication and performance. Through regular exposure to the creative arts, students are encouraged to discover their interests, develop their talents and appreciate the role of creativity in their learning and everyday lives.
Music
Students interested in developing their musical talents have the opportunity to learn an instrument and join one of our three school bands. Through regular rehearsals, students develop their musical skills while learning the value of teamwork, commitment and performance, with bands performing at school events and weekend occasions throughout the year. Our annual Band Gala Night provides students with a special opportunity to showcase their talents through solos and duets, while Band Camp offers an intensive experience focused on building musical skills and confidence. Our school choirs further support talented singers, providing opportunities to develop their vocal abilities and perform as part of an ensemble.
Drama
Students in Years 3–6 with a passion and talent for drama have the opportunity to join our drama group, where they can develop their performance skills, creativity and confidence. Through school productions and participation in drama competitions, students are encouraged to challenge themselves, work collaboratively and showcase their talents, providing a pathway for aspiring performers to grow and excel.
Dance
Students with a passion and talent for dance can join one of our three dance groups, open to both boys and girls. Students develop their skills, confidence and performance abilities while working collaboratively as part of an ensemble. Our dancers have opportunities to perform at school and community events, as well as participate in dance festivals, allowing them to showcase their talents and pursue their passion for dance.
Visual Arts
Students with a passion and talent for visual arts are provided with opportunities to extend their skills through specialist workshops and participation in a range of local competitions and exhibitions. Our teachers identify emerging artistic talent and provide targeted extension opportunities, encouraging students to develop their creativity, refine their skills and pursue their artistic interests.
